Manufacturing Technician Program
Hand and Power Tool Utilization

This 4-hour course is designed to introduce various hand and power tools used in manufacturing. Instruction will include identification, application, safe use, and maintenance of common tools. Students will use various tools to develop understanding of their functions. Competency will be demonstrated through practical application.

Arkansas State University Newport’s (ASUN) Manufacturing Technician Program (MT) was designed with local manufacturing industry in mind and prepares students for high paying careers in food production, steel production, and equipment manufacturing.
Students who successfully complete the program are ready to enter the workforce immediately with skills and competencies for high paying positions within manufacturing.
This program is comprised of three separate training programs. Attend one module, one program, or stack all three programs:

- Learn the skills to operate and monitor production equipment and processes
- Manufacturing Processes Lab
⮚ Manufacturing Essentials
- Aquire core competencies for manufacturing roles
⮚ Career Essentials
- Develop skills for success in any career
- Leadership 101
- Building Trust in the Workplace
- Career Readiness
Students will complete 70 hours of on-line virtual learning and 70 hours of in-person labs and instruction. Program modules are scheduled weekly.
Credit can be awarded for prior work experience and demonstrated competency.
Program Highlights: This intensive 140-hour hybrid training program features a combination of online learning, hands-on labs, and in-person instruction.
Admission Requirements: To be considered for the program, students must be 16 and participate in program orientation.
