If you are interested in learning more about computers but aren't sure how to get started, then this course is for you. You will learn about the different hardware parts that make up a computer. Explore the fundamentals of working with operating systems and applications, as well as how to keep your computer secure. You will also be introduced to poductivity programs like word processors and spreadsheet tools.  

No previous computing experience required.

Course Description:

In this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of project development tasks and applications, learn how to create and organize a RSLogix 5000 project, creating new programs, routines, periodic event tasks and applications. You will also learn to configure Addon instructions, User Defined Data Tables, Producer Consumer Messaging and PID.

Ken Walsh started his career as an Electrical Engineer developing automated sawmill equipment. He worked for Rockwell Automation for over 15 years as a field support engineer where he saw applications everywhere imaginable.  

  • Experience in Automation Systems, software, System Design, Pneumatics, Electric Motor Drives, Panel Design, logic controllers, HMI project management, startup, troubleshooting and repair with disciplines applied across a multitude of industries.
  • Broad knowledge of general automation, networks, motion control, drive systems and process control that spans across multiple control vendors.
  • Experience with networks and communications includes: Controlnet, Devicenet, Ethernet, Modbus.

Precision Measurement

In this 4-hour course, students learn how to use standard measurement tools used in manufacturing. Instruction will include how to align, calibrate, and read tape measure/rule, calipers, and micrometers. Material covered will include measurement related math principles of calculating fractions and decimals, using the metric system, and conversions. Competency will be demonstrated through practical application. Students will use various tools to measure dimensions of known objects, and check part dimensions to determine if they meet tolerance standards.
